On the 10th May 2002 the WAGN 1245 London to Kings Lynn express train became derailed just south of Potters Bar Railway Station. One carrage mounted the platforms and came to rest after becoming lodged under the platform roofs. The crash resulted in 7 fatalities and over 70 injured.
